Treehouses at RIVER RANCH FAQs.
FAQs
Do you allow pets?
Yes! We always allow your four legged friends to bring you along when they go on vacation. For more information about traveling to River Ranch with your pets please see the Pets FAQs section below.
Do you allow children?
Yes we do. We do ask that due to the nature of treehouses that younger children be accompanied at all times and monitored. We have lots of walkways, decks and areas that should only be explored by kids under supervision.
Is there a minimum stay?
Yes, we have a 2 night minimum at all times and occasionally a three night minimum on holidays. You can see our minimums listed on our reservation calendar.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
Many of our treehouses are accessible by wheelchair or scooter all the way from your parking area right to your front door. Our tree houses are NOT ADA compliant but we are wheelchair accessible in most tree houses. Our door ways are at least 32 inches wide and our walkways are 36 inches wide. We feature comfort height toilets but we do not have fold up seats in the showers. Also, our walk in showers do have a small lip on the entrances. Please feel free to call us and we will be happy to help you figure out the perfect tree house for your needs.
How many people do your tree houses accommodate?
Each tree house is unique. We have tree houses built for couples all the way to large families. Our smallest is for 2, and our largest…so far….is for 8
Are these real tree houses?
Absolutely. We have combined every child’s dream of being able to sleep on a platform high among the trees with every adult’s dream of a full kitchen, large bathroom and a wide selection of TV channels and Wifi. Our treehouses are built for easy accessibility from the parking area. But, by the time you reach the back deck, you are well elevated into the trees. Some of our treehouses are higher than others. Also, we did not want to harm trees in any way so we elected not to bore out holes in the trees or attach to them in any way. Our houses are built on pilings, or stilts, that allow for the same height but do not damage the trees in any way.
What is provided in the kitchen and bedroom/bathroom?
Basic pots and pans, cooking utensils, plates, glasses, silverware, salt and pepper, napkins, a roll of paper towels, trash bags, small bottle of dish detergent. You will also find a full size refrigerator, oven, microwave, toaster, blender and a coffee maker.
We provide all bed linens, towels and washcloths, bath soap, shampoo and conditioner, body wash and hair dryers. You will also find an iron and ironing board.
What do I need to bring?
We suggest you bring your hiking shoes, clothing and personal grooming items, a book, your favorite person and your dog…or, your favorite dog and a person.
What is the check-in and check-out process?
Check-in is easy. Shortly before your arrival we will provide you with instructions to access your tree house. Once in, you will find the keys to the cabin and some area and cabin information on the kitchen table. Checkout is equally simple. Just wash the dishes, turn off all the lights, leave the keys on the table, lock the door behind you and toss the trash in the dumpster as you drive out.
How close are you to the Hocking Hills attractions?
We are within very easy driving distance of all the major attractions. We are 2 miles from Rock Bridge, 14 miles from Old Man’s Cave, 12 miles from Conkle’s Hollow, 10 miles from Rock House and 18 miles from Ash Cave.

PET FAQs
Is River Ranch pet friendly?
Absolutely! We encourage all families to bring their furry family members. We ask that you maintain control of your pet on a leash at all times when off of your deck and that you respect our property. If your pet needs to be crated in your absence please do so.
Is there a pet fee?
Yes, there is a $35 pet fee per pet. That is the only pet charge unless there is additional cleaning or damage done during your pet’s stay.
Does River Ranch accept all pets?
We accept all well-behaved, non-aggressive traditional pets. If you have an unusual pet, just give us a call and we would be happy to discuss it with you.
Is it Ok to leave my dog unattended on the deck?
No, please do not leave them unattended outside. Our decks are tall and we have a great deal of wildlife, we wouldn’t want your pet to decide to go exploring without you. Also, please do not leave your pet tied to a tree or other object in your absence.
Can my dog go hiking with me?
Of course! Just make sure that they are on a leash. You will probably encounter more than a few other furry animals when exploring, from squirrels and chipmunks to deer and groundhogs, please be careful about allowing your pet to have any “close encounters”.
Is there anything I need to bring for my pet?
Please refer to our Pet Friendly Vacation Tip list below for our suggestions before you travel with your pet. But don’t forget their bedding, favorite toy, any medication, their food and their treats!
Pet Friendly Vacation Tips
- Be sure that your pet has current ID tags on. Also, be sure that your pet has your current cell phone number printed on their tag so that you can be reached while on vacation.
- Visit your vet before your arrival and be sure that all of your pets vaccinations are up to date.
- Bring any medications your pet may need. We do have several vets in town but the closest 24 hour emergency vet is 29 miles away.
- Treat your pet for fleas and ticks prior to leaving for your vacation. In the summer months, the abundance of wildlife can cause fleas and ticks to be a problem anywhere, including here.
- Be sure to pack freshly washed bedding and any favorite pet toys. If your pet is used to sleeping in bed with you or laying on furniture at home, please bring a few extras blankets for your visit to protect our furniture and bedding.
- Don’t forget to pack pet food. We do have a Kroger and Walmart in town as well as a PetsMart 13 miles away.
- We suggest that you bring a travel water bottle with you in case you and your pet want to go hiking together.
- Be sure to keep your pet on a leash at all times when you leave your treehouse deck and close by when on the deck. Chances are, they will be able to see plenty of wildlife from the deck and might want an up close animal adventure of their own.
